Racing Discussion / you all know
« on: October 29, 2019, 09:11:42 PM »
how much i enjoy racing. been doing it for 34+ years. i must confess to having as much fun running in the middle as much as i have running in the front in years past.
i get the most out of watching the faces of the youngsters with the desire to get behind the wheel, i mean who knows who the next picasso will be if you don't give the young ones a brush to put to the canvas?
i am pretty proud of the 9 top nine season point tallies at the hill speedway and at the point combined with my young guns.
i will start from the hill where trevor williams earned a well deserved 3rd place in the fwd class. along with recognition for perfect attendance. fellow team members recorded 7th, 8th, and 9th in points. greg slater led the pack with owen clark in 8th and john maynard just one point behind in the 9th spot.
there were also a few stand in drivers through the season, kevin clark, dalton maynard, lou spawls, joel austin, phil clapper, zach mills and anyone i missed, sorry.
then we get to the point. randy lane led the pack as the only expert division car out of the jam shop this year. finishing fourth in points fresh off his 2018 championship season in the novice division, he is a strong contender for rookie of the year honors in the expert class.
in the novice division 14 year old young gun owen clark trudged his way to a respectable third place finish in just his first season of racing. three year veteran 17 year old ashley slater saw her career best season finally in the 4th place in season standings.
newcomer 13 year old austin slater finished a respectable seventh place behind the seasoned veteran of john maynard who recorded sixth place.
it was a season of first's and a memorable one at that. owen clark gave jam motorsports its first rollover experience and over achieved while doing so. a rollover with an end over end had the crowd gasping as the dust settled.
it was also the first time as a multiple car owner that i got to drive all of my cars at least once somewhere throughout the year.
winning the heath memorial was a memorable experience for me also.

now we await the team party and the point banquet. we are building the upcoming season plans as we await.
dawn and i would like to thank all our fans and supporters, and you to randy mosier!

i ain't sure who's doing the sport the most or least damage. i thought that these 2 teamed up to save each other but this direct tv crap has sealed the deal for me.
after being a custmoer for 20+ years i have had it. had to buy a special package to get fs2 for the racing, then they took it off with no warning and kept charging for the package. went thru the same ole crap with abc, comedy central, now nbc. i think they just lost another customer. i will treat them as they treated me. no notice.
if i have to watch to the race on the radio i can watch the news on it to. more time and $ for my race cars so its a win, win, win deal no matter how i look at it.

they tell me i have a contract with them and i told them contracts work 2 ways, i had a contract with them for these missing channels until they broke it. contact cancelled by me.

Racing Discussion / dawn maynard is a bit,
« on: September 04, 2015, 08:52:20 AM »
dawn maynard is a bit happier now that her two drivers have won the lightning cat divisions, novice and expert, at five mile point in 2015.
we were told matt mckernan broke the record for feature wins in the novice division with his 14 feature wins.
we were also told that burt maynard set a record in the experts for being the first champion that had not won a feature during the points season. these are unofficial of course but the information came from a knowledgeable race fan and statician.

Racing Discussion / its must be that time of year again......
« on: December 09, 2014, 06:41:21 AM »
yep, tis the season. the silly season of selective posting has now begun again if it really ever ended. how in the heck is a post asking "who makes troyer bumpers" get locked down and moved when a post asking "who fixes scales" remains? could there be selective enforcement or poster favoritism causing such actions?
not picking on anyone in particular here just trying to figure out the system and how it works again. maybe it just slipped through the cracks and remained unnoticed. maybe its nothing, no that can't be right or it wouldn't have happened in the first place.
i love a good snow job, let it fall.  :)

Racing Discussion / Drive and determination or,,,
« on: July 06, 2014, 10:51:38 AM »
drive and determination or determination and drive? read this and decide.

as many know, my son is battling lymphoma and as any father would do i want him to have something to look forward to and a reason to drive on in his fight for life. his birthday is on the 4th of july and we have always called him a firecracker. one week a go we started building an 02 neon for him as a birthday gift. it almost didn't happen. we thrashed on this project all week with the goal of him wheeling it on his b-day at penn can with me in his new car and his first race at the can.
we were in the garage until 8 oclock friday night when we put it on the trailer and left for the can in a hurry. we pulled in the pits as the first feature was exiting the track. with the great help from many great people we started last in the feature. those people are the reason we made this all happen. i won't list them individually because i simply can't. so much was going on and there were folks i don't even know in it with both hands to get us out on the track. as they called for the cars i was hanging half in and out of the new car hooking up the alternator and remembered the battery terminals were loose. i rushed for the wrench and snugged the up.
i didn't want to be the reason this night wouldn't stick in our memories as something we had regrets from.
i was still installing myself in my car as we dashed for the track to get our cherished back of the field starting spots.
i had to see how it would work out for j.b. so i let him go and followed along. i had a goal that he would not finish last if i had to head to the pits before they could get him there. after we got by a few cars i overtook him and went on to run my race. he continued to run his.
i made it to 7th and he finished 10th. it felt like a first to us. first time at the can for him, first time out with a new car, first time we ever raced against each other.(well sort of)
i'm not sure who got the better present. burt drove the 57n to victory lane at 5 mile the next night. i gave him a night to remember and he returned the night to remember back 2 fold. the best part of it is we get to share those remembories with a lot of folks. we tinkered what we could and had the m-80 in the novice division with strech ems behind the wheel. we also had that on our mission plan. overheating shortened the m-80's day but was running 2nd when he pulled off the track.
we were all dragging as$ on the ride home but grinning from ear to ear because we pulled it off some how. the group shot even included our 15 year old lab/husky who loves to go to the races, sometimes i think more than we do.
from burt, dawn and myself, we thank each and everyone of you. including those who only read this post.
its these kind of memories that make the bad nights memories seem trivial and fade away.
we couldn't do it without our great sponsors and members of the jam motorsports "hundred dollar club".
thank you all just one more time!
