An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and more readily understood by all).
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little..
The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. It could not be any simpler than that.
Remember, there IS a test coming up. The 2012 elections.

This should be common sense to all.  But then again, I believe it was Mark Twain that said there is nothing as uncommon as common sense.

And they wonder why Welfare Roaches stay on Welfare for years and even Generations. When people see there Welfare friends lose there kids and the adults starve to death, the "others" MIGHT get off there deada$$'s and at least look for and even take some sort of job even if it's at McDonalds. At least there working now and paying taxes. The worst is seeing people on Public Assistance who own a Racecar and race once or twice a week. They are the one where the husbund and wife both smoke at least 2 packs of smokes and drink a 12 pack a day. There kids are the one's with fishing line where there shoes laces should be. I have seen excactly that.

If you want real welfare reform, it can't be based on how many kids you have or anything like that.  the sum total of all benefits should be based on minimum wage minus 50 cents an hour times 40 hours a week.  That is a safety net with an incentive to get back out into the workforce.  So sorry your kids won't be able to have cell phones and play stations until yuou earn the money for those things.

Welfare reform will not come about as a result of posting on RaceNY....I suggest you become involved and active elsewhere if you truly want change.

But taxes should have a cap, and i agree there should be max on how long you can be a on welfare. The only people that should have to work are those who physical cant and then they go on ssi disability. Not sure if a flat tax rate will solve any problems. But wasn't it warren buffet that said his maid pays more in taxes then he does. Should be mandatory drug testing for people who are on welfare.

Sounds like a good plan to me!
