Racing Discussion / North South Shootout
« on: November 05, 2016, 04:07:14 PM »
Crowd looks pretty sparse down South. We went to this race back in 07 and 08 and it was standing room only. What happened? Also, not too many drivers from the NY/PA area. Only a handful of SK mods??

Does anyone know:

When the pit and grandstand gates open?
How much to get in the pits and grandstand?

I checked the website and all it says is "2PM Start".  ::)

Racing Discussion / Race Pictures and Videos
« on: May 04, 2015, 04:07:30 PM »
As I did last season, I will be posting pictures and videos of the races I attend in 2015 to the WNY Circle Track Racing Facebook page. The majority will be from western and southern NY asphalt tracks (Spencer, Oswego, Perry, Lancaster, Chemung, Shang 2, Holland).  The page currently has over 5000 pictures on it from all of the above tracks with a few from the 2007 and 2008 North-South Shootout at Concord and the 2009 Icebreaker at Thompson. Within Facebook, search "WNY Circle Track Racing" and be sure to "like" the page to get updates. Feel free to tag and/or share the pictures.

Racing Discussion / WCIS Update?
« on: October 04, 2014, 12:31:29 PM »
Anyone at WCIS? How's the weather? Car count? Any update is appreciated.

One of the Oswego Speedway owners filled in for the first turn flagman today. He was there the entire race, probably because the regular guy couldn't make the rain date.

I also witnessed the other Toressi brother meet a super modified driver who crashed during hop laps before the feature at the edge of the track and seemed genuinely concerned with the driver.

These guys are ALWAYS wandering around in the pits every week. They're doing it right.

Racing Discussion / Race Car Pictures
« on: July 28, 2014, 04:18:56 PM »
If you're interested in pictures of race cars, I've created a facebook page that is solely dedicated to the amateur pictures I take while at the track. They are from western and southern NY asphalt tracks (Spencer, Oswego, Perry, Lancaster, Chemung, Shang 2, Holland) and few from the 2007 and 2008 north-south shootout and 2009 Thompson. The page currently has ~2000 pictures on it. Search "WNY Circle Track Racing" and be sure to "like" the page to get updates. Feel free to tag the pictures.

Racing Discussion / Oswego or EBRP?
« on: June 06, 2014, 09:48:23 AM »
Here's a question I've been pondering all week and I'm still up in the air on which I will go to. The modifieds are where my heart tells me to go, but I think the supers will put on a better show. So.........

As a fan.......If you had a choice to go to Oswego and watch the the 800+hp ISMA Winged Super Modifieds or to EBRP to watch the ROC 600+hp ground pounding Modifieds, which would you choose to do?

Cost, distance to travel, facility condition, owner/promoter issues, support divisions, etc. do not matter to me......I go for the racing action, so it does no good to bash one track or the other..........

Racing Discussion / Ransomville Notes
« on: May 23, 2014, 11:57:53 PM »
I don't get to very many dirt races. Probably 1 or 2 a year.....but, Ransomville sure knows how to run a show. They started on time. 4 out of 5 divisions had 20+ cars. Mods, sport mods, street stocks, 4 cylinders, and novice sport mod. Heats were over in about an hour. "Intermission" was 10 minutes (if that). Order of the features: Streets, sport mod, mods. I'm not sure about the novice and 4 cylinder features. I left after the mod race.

The crowd was decent. The front gate was $15. The show ran like clockwork. The food was good and reasonably priced. The dust was minimal. The racing was great. What more could you ask for?

Nice job Ransomville.

Off Topic Discussion / Congress targets military retirees
« on: December 14, 2013, 06:29:43 AM »
This is something you all need to know about. Your government is trying to pay for some of it's problems on the backs of people who have given 20+ years of their lives protecting this country. This bill, co-sponsored by Congressman Ryan and Senator Murray, has already passed the house and is scheduled to be voted on in the senate next Tuesday. If you agree this is wrong, please write your senators and tell them. Ask them why they are not taking pay a pay cut. Ask them why they are not cutting their retirement. Ask them why they are even getting paid, as it's obvious they can't perform up to standards in their job. More importantly, ask them why some of them aren't standing guard over the ones who protect them.

Racing Discussion / Lake Erie, Shang, Mahoning Valley, or Oswego
« on: August 23, 2013, 11:31:02 AM »
Getting ready to head down to Chemung (from Rochester) to watch, what I think is the best asphalt racing has going for it at this moment, the Big 10 Super Stock race.

Trying to make a decision on where to go Saturday night. Never been to Lake Erie, I've been to Mahoning Valley once and Oswego and Shang many times. If you had the choice of these four tracks, where would you go and why? (note, I didn't say "Why Not?"). Please keep it positive.

Due to track conditions we have been forced to cancel tonight's racing action. Jeremie has been at the track since early this morning hoping for some drying conditions, but obviously that has not happened."
