Pretty good doubleheader for the region with the WoO at Ransomville the night before.

Of course the Outlaws are also in action that night at Weedsport....

With  an entry list like this maybe Stafford should think before booking a NASCAR tour  race

Why?  So it can get about 1/2 the cars and a lousy show and pay NASCAR a ton in sanctioning fees and pay the racers less?  No thanks.

I think Sean is suggesting it doesn't look good that a touring series wasn't represented at the trade show and coupled with the fact that many drivers are still looking to be paid for races from last season that maybe the ROC series in in deep deep trouble?

A majority of the tracks in the region and touring series as well, had booths set up BOZO.  Were you even there?

Why are drivers not getting paid!  adress problems, cant get a hold of them , what's the problem?

Even more simple than that.....promoter not paying them.

Racing Discussion / Re: ROC Purse at Lake Erie
« on: October 29, 2019, 12:12:40 PM »
The touring model does not work when weekly racing is non existent. time to eliminate the touring classes and focus on rebuilding the weekly. Going back to stock rules. Make racing affordable again.get Canadian influence back in WNY and CNY back again . shorten overall time at the racetracks casual fans dont want to spend 6 hrs at a track with a long drawn out intermission with 7 classes of racing with 12 cars. figure out 4 total classes and move forward.

But the touring classes can and do work elsewhere.  It's all about how its done.  No one is racing mods on a weekly basis in the new england area but the tri track series draws cars like crazy.  The formula isn't crazy complicated.  Good promoters paying a decent purse.  Obviously there is a lot more to it than that but in general they've proven a winning formula does exist.

Already 2 full timers not coming back plus one that was fairly regular.  No word of anyone going that direction.  Doesn't look good.  Can't race a touring series cost wise for weekly purse money wise.

Well I know matt doesn't race like that so who provoked him did he get bumped ?

HAHAHAHAHAHHAAAHA.  Yeah right.

In any event, he ran all 4 wheels into the grass in turns 3 and 4 and cleaned out Ronnie Silk coming to the checkers.  It was just stupid.  Harpooned the living crap out of him.  He deserved a DQ and then some.

Even if none of them got sent home, these races pay better and they get cherry picked by the mod touring regulars and the weekly sportsman racers don't get a decent shot at the bigger paydays.  The sportsman class was intended to be developmental class to help develop future modified drivers and teams.  It's turned into something quite different.

Racing Discussion / Re: ISMA car counts
« on: September 16, 2019, 06:28:42 AM »
Doc Hathaway, the president of ISMA, stopped by our pit and chatted for a bit.We talked about the future of ISMA and the current situation. We got a few new guys for next year Nick Capelli has moved up, Jeff Locke’s kid is moving up, look for a new young talent to show up in one of the Lane cars, I think Lou Sr and Tyler Thompson are going to run a full season too. I personally think MSS and ISMA need to merge and have a simple schedule.I would like to see Lorain,Sandusky,Oswego,Delaware,Cayuga,Star,Thompson and IRP. I told Doc we need to get better dates that don’t conflict with Oswego, at the tracks near Oswego, cuz we still need to draw guys form Oswego. Its funny we got the tires in check now and the purse is decent, but can’t draw consistently.. A lot of guys, drivers included think we should just adopt the new Oswego rules pkg.. IDK

Leave the rules alone.  Much of the divide in the division now can be attributed to rule changes that should have never been made to begin with.  And for god sake, please do not adopt those abortions they are calling supers at oswego these days.

The Sportsman division is just becoming the modified drivers version of the old "Busch Series" in NASCAR.  Something to run while they are there anyway.  Having a bunch of modified touring regulars eat up the headline sportsman shows does nothing for the sportsman teams who support the class weekly, nor does it help grow the division long term.  Great for promoters in the short run with big names and higher car counts, terrible for the class in the long run.

Racing Discussion / Troyer/LFR merger

Not sure how this plays out exactly, but apparently LFR and Troyer have some sort of a merger going on.  Statement from Billy Colton and Rob Fuller on Troyer's facebook page.

It might be 20 minutes or less to change gears, but as for the rest of the set up, at least on a sportsman or mod, you are probably looking at much more, shocks, springs, maybe a sway bar, maybe some other tweaks, and scale it, nevermind if you have any repair work from the night before.  It's probably more a few hours to do it right.  I'm not saying its not doable, but its not as simple as you make it sound.  And not every team has the resources, manpower and financially to run 2 nights a week in these times.

Racing Discussion / Re: New Asphalt Modified Series! [AARN]
« on: April 12, 2016, 11:55:49 AM »
Its called a no compete clause....that's why he needed his little buddy to start the other series for him.The other reason is he still has another year on his contract with AR which if he doesn't run a tour will be in breech of contract too...another lawsuit waiting to happen. Classless.......yep the mutant maroon strikes again.

I can't imagine AR really cares if Andy breaches his contract with them at this point because as it is he apparently owes them a ton anyway.  What's the point from their side?  This guy isn't buying the tires he promised?  Big deal.  He doesn't have the cash to pay for them anyway.

And depending on how the various contracts are written, the deal he had with AR, if in fact it was to cover this season as well, may or may not have been enforceable after the sale of the series anyway.
