Could someone give car counts when it's close to start time? If there's a full field of mods I plan to come for the features. But if there's no info on the count I'll skip it, as I can't justify spending 35 bucks for a 15 car show. Thanks!

I count 25 mods (includes 4 or 5 sport mods). 11, 39. AK, Ridsdale, Totten, another RRC car 11, TJ Pot, Hirshman, Scherer, Andy J, Hanbury, 67, 76, 99, Jimmy Z, Emerling, 0, 88, Deitz, Zeiner, 00, 40, 53, 46, 71.

32
24 sport mods started. 9 finished. Hanbury and Barber put on a good show.

33
Forgot one.......AK in the 66.

34
Hirschman,  Hanbury, Ridsdale, Totten, Scherer, 46 (Kay), 99 (Savary), Zeiner, Emerling, Sisti, Zacharis, Rought, 0 (it says "zer" on the number.

Racing Discussion / Re: Pull in the yellow???
« on: September 09, 2015, 06:10:24 AM »
This reminds me of a time back in the early 90s at Blackrock Speedway in South Dakota. Sprint cars were on the track for their feature (they were a weekly division back then). When they came off turn four, expecting the green flag, the flag guy throws the yellow instead (rumor had it he didn't like the lineup). About half the field slowed and the other half didn't. The result was a bunch of wadded up cars. One driver cartwheeled off the track out of turn one into the parking lot (no walls). The driver got out of his car, sprinted up the front stretch, climbed the flag stand, and proceeded to beat the hell out of the flag guy.

I'm expecting to win the Power Ball tomorrow night. That doesn't mean it's going to happen.

True, but I guess the point is, generally the green is thrown at the start,  then the yellow immediately comes out if its a bad start.

I had a slightly different error happen to me in the 70's that might have cost me the win but we'll never know.
On the restart I fired and the flagger waved the yellow, I eased off and he realized his mistake, dropped the yellow and waved the green.  Will Cagle went by on one side and Gary Iulg went by on the other before I realized what was happening and got back on it.  I finished third.

Afterwards Gary Iulg told me ya snooze ya lose.

Flagger was appologetic but that really didn't make me any happier

Racing Discussion / Re: CAMPING FOR ROC WEEKEND OCT 3RD AND 4TH

Permits not needed, having a sleep over at my house with racing friends i don't know. All is good to go .
It's not really any of my business, but I'm compelled to ask.....you haven't spoken to anyone in the town about having a couple hundred (or more) campers on your property for the weekend? How about your insurance company? You could be liable if someone gets hurt? I am no lawyer, but you might want to check into this from a legal standpoint. You're charging a fee for a service, which might make you culpable. I've seen whole campers get burned to the ground, fireworks in porta-poties, and a whole slew of extra curricular activities at ROC weekend events. You must like taking chances...... :)
