Is it humanly possible to break the bead on Aero wheels?
« on: July 25, 2014, 08:17:55 PM »
Ok, what's the secret?  I can dismount Bart or Bassett wheels all day, but Aero seems to want me to buy new wheels when I need new tires.

I Use Aero Wheels (8") And Really Have No Problem. They Can Be A Bitch To Mount Put Not Taken Off.

I never had a problem breaking the bead. Now getting them to bead up is another story. I had a couple that I tried to put Emod tires on and they wouldn't bead up. Took them to a tire shop and they put them in a cage and put 120 pounds of air in them and they still wouldn't bead up. I got rid of all my Aero's and went with Bassett after that.
If you're driving on the edge... You're trespassing on my property!!!!!!!

In Trying To Mount F45's I Had 120 psi. Same Story, Wouldnt Bead Up. But Totally Blew The Side Walls Out Like Balloons. I Also Went To Bassett Wheels.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the ether method yet... not that I would recommend that.

Why not machine the bead down a tad in a lathe, keep it simple. We had that problem years ago with a particular brand.
