Evergreen Raceway (PA) has a $6,500 to win tour-type modified race this Sunday and I will not (repeat: not) be in attendance. I can not and will not frequent a race track that can't produce a proper show. By way of example, I was at Thunder Road (VT) last Thursday. With four classes plus spectator 1-on-1 races, the entire show lasted 3 hours and 15 minutes.
They started on time. Intermission was short (less than 15 minutes). Cars were lined up for each heat, consi, and feature before they took to the racing surface. Cars that spun didn't sit awaiting the yellow flag. They rejoined the race! All in all, an excellent example of how a racing show should be run.
I can only hope that Evergreen Raceway management will make significant improvements as they have become the "poster child" for how not to run a race track. If they do, I'll return for the remaining tour-type modified events.
