Do I have to buy a dirt license to race there ?
-
If you are racing Sportsman, yes.
-
Do you know the cost of a Dirt License ? Last time I bought one I think it was around a $100 to $120
-
What is the deal with the Dirt license? If I am running Outlaw speedway and I decide I want to run Canandaigua one Saturday night. Do you have to buy a Dirt license?
-
Doug, I'm guessing that because the Sportsman at Canandaigua are DIRTcar sanctioned this year, and because they are having a Sportsman series race there, you will need to buy a license. I think it was $100. And if you plan on running Dundee during the Series race there, you need that license, as well. I would double check with Greg Hixson and see if DIRTcar are doing the one night pass that they used to have. (But I think you'll race Canandaigua more than one night during the season. ;) No matter what your brother thinks. Lol!)
-
The 2018 Outlaw Speedway schedule has been posted, and there is no Sportsman Series race scheduled, so you will not need to buy any license to race this season at Outlaw Speedway.
-
So if the sportsman are on the card with the Super DIRTcar Series event at Dundee, the sportsman will be on American Racers, not Hoosier's like they were last year? I know for a fact multiple sportsman drivers had to buy a DIRTcar license to run the event?
-
It says Grit series that night at Outlaw paired with Super DIRTcar Series. Doesn't say which flavor.

Matt_s86 is correct it is the Grit Series Race.

Thanks, Matt.
Guess we'll find out what 'flavor' it is.
Doug usually races at Canandaigua more than once a season. His best bet would be to contact Greg Hixson and ask.

Sunny, Thanks for the Update. I really appreciate all your info you post! Years ago it was a lot simpler because there were a lot of DIRT sanctioned tracks that ran Hoosiers. That is not the case now as we have a lot of non-DIRT tracks. Back in the day you would never see a sanctioned DIRT race at a Non DIRT sanctioned track that also ran a different tire. Now we have sportsman races where one race for Hoosiers and one race for A.R. tires at the same track on the same night? What does the Grit series do if they are at a non DIRT sanction track, run the tires sanctioned at the track. I only ran a few GRIT races two being at Rolling wheels. They had a feature for each tire???????. I get the idea that CMP will run one tire,(Hoosiers) for grit races. I appreciate a promoter offering a race for each tire but if I was a fan I would scratch my head and think WTF. I know that it is brought up that 4 features with the same car but different motors or rules could be mind numbing to fans. Obviously Fulton has proved that wrong. They have two features just for the Nov-is class due to having so many cars show up. You don't see multiple big block races to accommodate Tire brands.
-
Last I knew, there was a GRIT American racer, and a GRIT Hoosier, because of the car count that supported the last great show at Rolling Wheels.
I agree, Doug. It's confusing when non-sanctioned tracks have sanctioned shows. The thought process behind my comments on the sportsman supporting the Super DIRTcar Series race at Dundee stem from the fact that last year, it WAS a DIRTcar sportsman series race, which dictated Hoosier tires. It's why drivers like Adam Leslie and Jessica Power drove so far to participate. The problem was - the normal class of Sportsman at Dundee run American Racers. A good portion don't even own Hoosier tires, so there was a ton of complaints about it.
I say you sit back and see what happens at Canandaigua. Those guys are all out at PRI learning how to be better at everything required to make racing great again. I have a lot of faith that the season will be good at Canandaigua.

Thanks Sunny! Yes I think that a Dirt series race at a non sanction track that runs AR tires would ***** off the weekly racers, at lest the lower classes that cant afford to go buy two more sets of tires for one race. It is just not good business. I am looking forward to this year. I feel bad for people like my brother who put together a street stock, that was really a pure stock to run with the street stocks. The street stocks are now pro-stocks. Then they say that the street stocks over at Dundee can run at CMP. Sunny, you have seen those so called street stocks. They pull the left front way up in the air coming off the corner. I helped the 32C for a series race at Dundee and when I herd the class that was on the track take the green it sounded like Mods. I walked to the fence and saw that they were street stocks. What are the motor Rules at Dundee for those cars??? The class just is not a starter class any more. It is WAAAYYYY to expensive! I could go on and on how street stocks are in no way shape or form anything close to stocks. The class is a complete mess. Oh yea, what does first place pay???? NOTHING! No one wants to get into that screwed up mess.

The street stocks at outlaw pay $500 to win $80 to start. The left front coming off the ground it don't by different height rear springs. Complete stock location rear 4 link it not as fancy as people think
