PENN CAN SPEEDWAY POSTPONES “CAN OPENER” TO NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 6TH

SUSQUEHANNA, PA… With a forecast calling for an 80% chance of rain with temperatures dropping into the upper 30’s the decision has been made to postpone the 2016 “Can Opener” at Penn Can Speedway. The race has been rescheduled for next Friday, May 6th at 7:30 p.m.
Track crews having been extremely busy gearing up for the season opening event but Mother Nature had other plans, therefore pushing back the opener by one week. A lot has been going on in preparation for the opener but fans will have to wait one more week to see all of the improvements.
“We have been working around the clock to get ready for the opener and have made a lot of improvements to the speedway”, said Promoter Dan Harpell. “It’s disappointing that the weather didn’t cooperate but we are really excited about getting the season started next Friday”, he added.
Some of the improvements include new track lights being installed around the speedway along with more than 50 new bleacher boards. The walls have been painted and new billboards have been put up in the infield.
“Fans and drivers alike will immediately notice the improvements that we have been able to make this spring”, said Harpell. The new lights, coupled with freshly painted white walls, will certainly brighten things up on the speedway. The new bleacher boards will be a comfort to the fans in the stands.
So the 2016 racing season will have to wait one more week to take the green flag. Join us on Friday, May 6th for the new 2016 “Can Opener”.
