“Working Man’s Race” Puts Street Stocks in Spotlight; $1,000 to win Trackside Products Feature; American Racer Champion’s Dash!
AFTON, NY – The “Working Man’s Race” wouldn’t be complete without a special event for the full-fender weekend warriors.
For the American Racer Cup Short Track SuperNationals 10, Street Stock racers will enjoy the limelight on Saturday, October 7 at Afton Motorsports Park thanks to the support of Trackside Products and American Racer/Lias Tire.
For the first time ever, a ‘Champion’s Dash’ will be held with invitations extended to regional Street Stock champions at venues utilizing American Racer tires during the 2017 season.
Champions will take part in a 15-lap dash event. The winner will receive $500 cash. All other participants earn a certificate for a FREE American Racer tire.
Street Stock champions from the following speedways are invited to take part:
Accord Speedway – Travis Brockner
Afton Motorsports Park – Damon Decker
Big Diamond Speedway (Roadrunner) – Kody Sites
Bridgeport Speedway (Outlaw Stock) – Tom Wills Jr.
Five Mile Point Speedway – Doug Polhamus
New Egypt Speedway – Bill Liedtka
Outlaw Speedway – Glen Whritenour
Skyline Raceway Park – Lanson Albanese
The Hill Speedway – Dan Force
Thunder Mountain Speedway – Lanson Albanese
Woodhull Raceway – Dylan Cecce
Aside from the dash, a complete program is planned for the Street Stocks. Thanks to Al Wilcox and Trackside Products, the 20-lap main event will offer a huge $1,000 top prize and $75 to take the green flag. There is no entry fee.
Home track rules apply for the Street Stocks. All cars must run 8-inch maximum width steel wheels and American Racer 70/245 tires.
Two very full days of racing are on the docket at Afton October 6-7.
Friday night, joining the Sportsman American Racer Cup Match Races, are the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series Fueled By VP Sportsman finale offering 35 laps, $1,500 to win (*with $20 “Gambler’s Fee” posted) and $125 to take the green plus CRSA Sprints, FWD Four Cylinders ($250 to win, $40 to start) and Modified and Street Stock practice, both with incentives.
Saturday is topped by the eighth round of the STSS Halmar International North Region for big-block/small-block Modifieds paying $5,000 to win and $400 to start plus Trackside Products Street Stocks paying $1,000 to win, IMCA-Modifieds in a $400-to-win special and Vintage Modifieds (open to all cars).
American Racer Cup Modified Match Races and the American Racer Street Stock Dash complete the Saturday card.
