Racing Discussion / Re: jennerstown whelen tour

I imagine it has to do with the parent company.

If top 3 don't have fans yet, neither will Whelen.

At least we'll have less laps tomorrow.

Not to mention we'll have the "inverted" top 20.

I was still happy to see racing - I wasn't "as" bored because of the differences in tv coverage. Kept me occupied...

Texas announced there will be a race this Sunday ; I haven't seen whether will be on a Fox channel or just streamed online.

I spent the latter half of the race watching Swanson (and Earl Paules for a while too).

Their strategy of pitting early...and then only going when the leader got to their bumper to lap them...was really entertaining. Once Swanson turned up the wick he was much of the show (well, that and seeing if Tyler Truex had anything for Matt).   Swanson should have gotten Bonsignore at the end too

I am counting Jennerstown - but I should have said "diversity" because South Boston, Wall - adding some variety that's all

Doggone it - I was driving through Ontario and thought "wonder if there's a race somewhere. ". Now I wish I had checked here first.

I don't think you can make it as a direct comparison.

The earlier NH race had 38 cars.  This one was 250 laps; that is a lot of laps on a mile long track.

Also - there are some who won't run the tour because of all the requirements to make the car (or team) NASCAR legal.

All of the practices were done when they started to work on Johnson's car.  There was no (accident-driven) scenario in which Jimmie would have needed his back-up.

Formula 1, if I recall correctly, does have rules regarding the back-ups in the rulebook.  I think each team (2 cars) is allowed a single back-up car.  At Indianapolis teams are allowed to have back-up cars - but there are provisions in which they cannot have a race-ready car.  This is where you saw differences when Alonso wrecked (took them days to be ready) versus Schmidt Peterson when Hinchcliffe wrecked.  SPM had the back-up car ready to go - they rolled it out while undoing the engine from the primary car, swapped engines, and were done in under 90 minutes.

Looks like a reasonably healthy car count, as well as some big hitters (Hirschman, Defebo, Coss, Wagner, Kochenash, Paules, Jones, etc.)

Racing Discussion / Whelen Tour Race at Wall
« on: May 07, 2019, 09:50:05 AM »
The NASCAR Whelen Tour Modified race for Wall Stadium is approaching quickly.

From the day it was announced I had full intention of supporting it.  Sadly, it does not look like my work schedule is going to allow that to happen.

While there is a slim chance that could change, what won’t change is my desire to support the track (and the Krause’s) for ponying up the money to host the Tour.

I am thus going to purchase 1 General Admission ticket and gift it to someone.  The tickets can be purchased online.  I will buy it and then electronically send it to you.

Here is how the winner will be chosen…

- Write up a few sentences on why you want to go.  Have you never been there?  You want to take somebody who hasn’t been there before?  You haven’t gone to a Tour race since the last one in NJ?  Etc.
- E-mail it to me.  My e-mail address is simple – take my screenname on this forum and then add @hotmail.com to it
- I will review the responses over this coming weekend
- I will choose which one I liked the best
- I will purchase the ticket either on Monday or Tuesday and send to you

Reply here with any questions.  Thank you for reading,
- (Michigan) Mike

He has just started putting stuff up and it is already leaps and bounds easier to navigate and find information.
